A short two hour drive from Barcelona and you find yourself in another country entirely, Andorra, a small nation between Spain and France. Andorra is not in the European Union, which makes it a shopping paradise surrounded by the majestic Pyrenees Mountains.
What’s there to enjoy in Andorra? Well, in the summer Andorra is fantastic for it’s amazingly well organised hiking trails, with many natural treasures, mountain lakes and breath taking mountain views on display.
And the food…oh the food!!!
After a quick 30 minutes of chair climbing (:D) we end up here, at the French-Andorran border looking at the Tristaina, a very famous formation of three interconnected mountain lakes.
Another 30 minutes (of almost free-fall) back down we find ourselves on the shores of the lake. In mid-July we could still see some remnants of snow which left me very nostalgic for the fun times we had skiing last winter!
I do have a guilty smile! I was secretly planning to drag everyone else to the next point of interest, Els Pezons. This time, an even more interesting and complex lake formation; seven small lakes, connected with a hiking route of several hours. Interestingly enough, it was part of another trail which crosses through three countries. Andorra, France and Spain.
Here we are! At the first of the seven Els Pezons lakes and the last stop on the day’s hike. Easily the most crystalline water I have ever seen! Beautiful!
And the food!! The Food!!
